A BUILDER from East Lancashire who admitted smuggling drugs worth millions of pounds was due to be sentenced by a Dutch court today.
Lee Christopher Morgan, 34, of Huncoat, will be sentenced by a court in Rotterdam, following an incident near Breda, Holland, on February 12, when a police car was rammed by another car.
Morgan and another man were charged with bringing 100 kilos of amphetamine, 300,000 Ecstasy tablets, 10 kilos of heroin and a kilo of cocaine into Holland. They also faced charges of possessing three Uzi sub-machine guns, a pistol and four gun silencers.
Morgan, who has been in custody since February, admitted the charges but claimed he was forced to smuggle for a British drugs ring after his family was threatened. His co-defendant, also from England, denied the charges but was found guilty.
Dutch prosecutors have requested that both men be jailed for nine years. Morgan's lawyer has appealed for the sentence to be kept as low as five years.
