YOUNG Prince's Trust volunteers carried out thousands of pounds worth of work in East Lancashire communities last year, says a survey published today.
The report, Just Get On With It, is based on statistics from the trust's 12 week scheme where 16 to 25-year-olds get involved in a number of activities as well as community work.
In 1998, almost 250 young people took part in the scheme in Lancashire and carried out work worth more than £185,000 across the county, while volunteers carried out more than £7.5 million worth of work in the country as a whole.
The report also highlights the benefits for those taking part in the scheme - a MORI survey showed 70 per cent of participants go on to jobs education or training.
