Blackburn Rovers Reserves 0 Bolton Wanderers Reserves 1

A BRILLIANT solo goal by Bolton striker Bo Hansen settled this FA Premier Reserve League derby and sentenced Blackburn Rovers Reserves to defeat in their opening home match of the season.

It was not a particularly inspired performance by Rovers against a strong Bolton side and they were always struggling in attack.

In fact Darren Peacock, playing his first game after cartilage surgery, went closest to scoring for them in the opening minutes.

The central defender rattled the underside of the bar following a corner and also brought a save from Steve Banks. David Dunn, who provided some positive attacking moments, also went close with a volley.

But Bolton had their moments too in a goalless first half, notably through Dean Holdsworth who forced Alan Fettis into one great save.

With Rovers struggling to make headway against central defenders Mark Fish and Gudni Bergsson, it came as no real surprise when Bolton grabbed what proved to be the winner in the 63rd minute.

Hansen left Rovers defenders trailing in a spectacular dribble before finishing with supreme assurance.

James Thomas forced sub keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen into a great save at the near post in the 75th minute but Rovers, generally, were weak in attack and could have no complaints about the result.

ROVERS: Fettis, McNamee, Peacock, Taylor, Croft, Dunn (sub Hamilton 63 mins), Flitcroft (sub Gill 55 mins), O'Brien, Corbett, Thomas, FitzpatriHansen strike settles derby.
