BURNLEY Under-15s, runners up in last season's North West Alder Cup, have been given a tough away tie against Wirral in the first round of this season's competition.
The town team fared well throughout last season's campaign and the Under-14s, who step up an age group, also fared well reaching the final of the Lancashire Schools' Wrennal Trophy, only to go down to Preston.
Local officials will be hoping for another good Cup run this time round and Burnley should be strong enough to make it into the second round of the North West competition.
Blackburn, who were knocked out on penalties by Wirral, in last season's Under-14s North West Woodward Trophy, have been given an away tie at Chester in this year's North West Alder Cup.
The full first round draw is: Mid Cheshire v Preston, Sefton v Bury, Chorley v Wigan, Kirkby v West Lancashire, Rossendale v Liverpool, Macclesfield v Manchester, Bolton v South Cheshire, Blackpool v Salford, Chester v Blackburn, Stockport v Trafford, Wirral v Burnley. Byes: Warrington, Rochdale, St Helens, Pendle, Tameside.
