STEVE Davis is in line for a return to the Clarets squad for tomorrow night's visit of Bournemouth after nearly three weeks out with a calf strain.
And Mark Robertson will also come into the frame after Burnley boss Stan Ternent again secured his release from Australia's Olympic preparations in Watford.
Robertson was due to play against Southampton for the Olyroos under-23 team this afternoon before travelling north to link up with the Clarets.
Defensive lynch-pin Davis hasn't played since limping off in Burnley's first home game of the season against Chesterfield on August 14.
But he could be back in action at Turf Moor tomorrow, provided he suffers no late set-backs.
Manager Stan Ternent confirmed: "Steve is back in training and this date has always been his target. Anything earlier would have been a bonus.
"He's training and if there's no reaction he will be available."
Paul Smith may also be fit to return after missing Monday's first League defeat of the season at Bristol Rovers on Monday with a sore knee as Ternent paces his comeback from surgery last season.
But Lenny Johnrose, who injured a calf against Stoke last Saturday, will require a late check and there is also a question mark over John Mullin, who suffered a reaction to his hip injury on Monday and was today expecting the results of a scan into the problem. Robertson will take temporary leave from the Australian party for the second time this week after making a substitute's appearance for Burnley at Bristol.
Barring any injuries at the Dell this afternoon he will stake his claim for a place in the Clarets' 16 before returning to the Australian camp for their build-up towards a game against Kuwait under-23s in London next Tuesday.
"It's been sorted out with Robbo," Ternent confirmed. "I spoke to him yesterday, he's playing against Southampton today and then Cliff Roberts will go down on the train and pick him up.
"So he's another one we can add to the squad."
The game against Bournemouth, who have won three and lost two of their Second Division fixtures so far, has been moved to avoid clashing with England's Euro 2000 qualifier against Luxembourg on Saturday afternoon, and not for television coverage.
Burnley have been allocated 4,000 seats in the Bill Shankly Kop for next Saturday's derby clash at Preston North End. The game is all-ticket for Clarets fans and tickets are already on sale at Turf Moor, priced £14 adults and £9 concessions.
North End's operations director Nigel Webster said: "We have allocated Burnley the same number of seats as last season.
"It has been decided to make entry to the Bill Shankly Kop all-ticket for both sets of fans on police advice."
