THE police must maintain the drugs raids on a regular basis because it is inevitable that more drug offenders will continue to move into the area. The British Housing Association should be monitoring their tenants and refusing tenancies for ex-drug offenders. Housing people with drug problems is the main problem within Morecambe and is a drain on public resources. Drug offenders need to be isolated from each other and placed on strict rehabilitation programmes ideally partaking in an activity which is energetic and benefits them and society.

It is clear that current services for drug addicts are not working. If Morecambe is going to benefit by the continuing improvements we must continue to fight the drug problem in a more pro-active way.
