AN audio library set up for blind people needs more tapes to keep the service running.
The library, set up just under a year ago by the Preston and North Lancashire Blind Welfare Society, sends out pre-recorded story tapes to blind and partially-sighted people across the county.
The tapes have been donated by locals, but the charity needs many more to keep pace with demand.
Peter Taylor, society director, said: "We all get tapes given to us for birthdays and Christmas, perhaps we listen to them once or twice and then put them in a drawer.
"There could be hundreds of thousands of these tapes laying idle across the county which we could put to good use."
The society is also inviting people to sponsor the purchase of new tapes, at £7.50 each.
Good quality tapes with covers in clean condition, or sponsorship money, can be delivered to Blind Welfare, Howick House, Penwortham PR1 0LS.
