AFTER the summer recess, Newton Hall Swimming Club will make their usual pilgrimage to the 15th annual Dukeries Open Meet at the International Ponds Forge pool at Sheffield on Saturday, September 4.
With an estimated 700 plus swimmers from more than 70 clubs across the country, the Dukeries is regarded as one of the leading sprint meets of the swimming calendar.
A strong contingent of 27 swimmers will represent Newton Hall who's aim is to regain last year's award of the best visiting team.
Ages of the swimmers range from 10 years old to 21 years.
Leading the rankings will be Michael How, who is on his summer break from Ohio University where he is on a swimming scholarship and is training for the Olympic trials.
Lisa How and Mark McCartney, both English schools internationals, are expected to do well, as is Jane Whittle who moved from 34th to 11th in the recent national qualifying times.
Helen Whittle, Adam Carlisle and Leanne Howe who have represented the Northern Division 2 in English Schools competitions are also expected to do well in the age groups.
