BLACKPOOL'S batting simply capitulated at Stanley Park in the Vaux Northern League Division One game against Netherfield on Monday (Aug 30).
Replying to Netherfield's massive 202-6, they managed a paltry 80 all out to lose by 122 runs with the only real resistance coming from Marcus Sharp and Jabbier Namajee.
They lost Robin Bracewell for nought in the first over when he played on to David Wheatman and in the third over Gavin Armstrong was leg before wicket also for nought and it was 6-2.
Chris Cornall made one before he slashed a wide ball from Wheatman straight into the grateful hands of Welbourne at point and when Paul Danson was bowled for a duck in the same over, Blackpool were a calamitous 25-5 and the Kendal jinx had struck again.
In the four games against the two sides from Kendal this season Blackpool have lost their first 20 wickets for a pathetic aggregate of 70 runs!
John Crane made eight before he was leg before wicket to Lewis and Martin Pickles, 13, who had resisted briefly was Wheatman's fifth wicket when he edged to Foly at slip at 29-6.
Then came the only stand worth mentioning in the innings as Namajee and Sharp put on 28 runs against what can best be described as some ordinary bowling.
They showed the top order what could be done with a little application and were together for 51 minutes before the 6ft 5ins Sharp was hit high on the thigh and adjudged leg before wicket for 13.
Kevin Hoggarth was soon leg before wicket to Hadwin for nought and it was 60-8 and the David Brookes struck two of the three boundaries scored before he too went leg before wicket to the returning Wheatman.
Cresswell popped up his first ball to Little at silly mid-off and Namajee was left high and dry with a battling 22 not out made in 91 minutes.
Blackpool's 80 all out left them well beaten with eight overs and three balls remaining and Wheatman who had taken only 12 league wickets all season prior to this game finished with the incredible figures of 7-8.
Earlier in the afternoon Netherfield had made the pitch look a whole lot less like a minefield as they cruised to their total.
Craig Walmsley and Simon Little had 44 on the board in no time before Namajee bowled the former for a well-struck 29.
Little and Simon Dutton then added 56 with no difficulty before an injured Sharp bowled Little for 55 made from 80 balls with one six and seven fours.
Sharp repeated the dose two overs later when he bowled his Cumberland county captain, Dutton, for 22 and Netherfield were 112-3.
Australian professional Geoff Foley started slowly and with Martin Lewis took the total to 150 before Lewis was leg before wicket to Sharp for 12.
Jimmy Moyes came in and played second fiddle to the powerful Foley who drove seven fours on his way to 63 made from only 67 balls before he was caught by Armstrong at long-on in the final over.
Moyes, 15, by that time had departed for 12, stumped off Hoggarth's boot from the bowling of Cresswell.
Danny Welbourne and Paul Stewart just had time to raise the total to 202-6 before the overs ran out.
And it proved 122 runs too many for a Blackpool side which will have to show a lot more application in the final two matches if they are to have any chance of claiming a Lancashire Cup place for next season.
