CARNFORTH'S Ian Joel had a successful weekend's testing last Sunday when the local team went to RAF Binbrook in Lincolnshire for the Cope Engineering Torque Back Stages.
This Saturday and Sunday's action centres on Ludlow for the Woodpecker stages. From Joel's position just outside the top three, he and co-driver Graeme Wood will be looking to pick up the pieces should leader John Thompson or 2nd place man Simon Crook fail to make the event count.
With only one round of the British Trial and Rally Driver Association Series remaining the Chris Allen Garages/Silkolene backed Escort Cosworth 4x4 still has one round to count where as the 1st and 2nd placed men have top better one of their previous scores and then will only gain a couple of points.
