LANCASTER have retained their crown after defeating numerous top water polo sides.
The victory came after an unofficial British championship was held to commemorate the Centenary Year of Radcliffe Borough, wherein Lancaster defeated Scottish team Portobello, the Irish Half Moon team and a powerful British Police side.
Lancaster trounced Radcliffe 12-1 on the first day, then dished out a similar beating to the disappointed Irish by 9-2. England trio Colin Burgess, Neil Bowers and Chris Hartley were a prominent force, and the outstanding Stephen Knowles in deep end goal did well to keep a clean sheet in both games.
The second day was business as usual - Burgess led from the front once again, whilst youngster Paul Squires blended in smoothly.
The British Police were the first to fall, going down 13-5 before Portobello were also beaten despite a slightly closer score of 11-7, leaving Chris Hartley with the final duty of collecting yet another trophy for Lancaster's cabinet.
