A PROJECT which helps people who can no longer look after their gardens is going from strength to strength.
The Ribble Valley Community Gardening Project is so much in demand that there is a waiting list for its services.
Co-ordinator Mark Taylor said: "Many people, for different reasons, are finding their gardens difficult to manage.
"We have about 18 volunteers now and we work on about 30 gardens. We have actually got a waiting list."
Mark is keen to sign up more volunteers and stresses that no long-term commitment is necessary.
People who can simply devote a couple of hours to helping will be welcomed, especially as during the winter months gardens need less regular attention.
Mark said: "We particularly encourage people with support needs to be involved.
"Many of the people we help are elderly and some are isolated. We are trying to encourage communities to work together again, by encouraging people to talk to each other and to share and develop skills."
Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Mark on 01200 429995.
The project has been entered for the Lancashire Evening Telegraph's Grimewatch awards.
