NICOLA Barnes is over the moon at gaining a first class honours degree after opting to study close to home.
Nicola, of Oaklands Drive, Rawtenstall, was offered a place to read management at Hull University but decided to study at Blackburn College instead.
And it is a decision that's paid off after she earned a first class BA (hons).
Nicola, 21, is now working in quality control at Micro Peripherals Ltd on Altham Industrial Estate.
She said: "The degree is verified from Hull but all the teaching was done at Blackburn College.
"I thought it was absolutely brilliant because there were only seven in the group and so the teaching was very personal and individual."
