ASDA boss Archie Norman took a tour round a Burnley factory days after taking over at the helm of its parent company.
Mr Norman has been taken on as part-time chairman of French Group which owns pillow and quilt manufacturer Northern Textiles, in Trafalgar Street.
He will receive a £30,000 annual fee and has also acquired rights to acquire about two million shares in the company over a five year period.
The current share price is more than treble its lowest price over the past 12 months.
Mr Norman will continue in his role with Asda during its transition period following its acquisition by American-based Walmart.
