THE FA Cup medal presented to the legendary Bert Freeman, scorer of the only goal in Burnley's victory over Liverpool in 1914, is to find a new home at Towneley Hall museum.
It will be handed to the Mayor Coun Eddie Fisk on Tuesday when it is hoped that members of Burnley's 1962 FA Cup final side will attend.
The medal was bought for £4,400 at a Christie's auction in Glasgow four years ago by Coun Harry Brooks, leader of Burnley Council's independent group and a lifelong Clarets supporter.
He said: "I bought the medal because I felt it belonged in Burnley and I would like people, especially our supporters, to be able to see it.
"The history of the club means a great deal to Burnley fans. If and when the proposed museum at Turf Moor becomes a reality a transfer might be possible."
