CHURCH fund-raisers desperate to raise cash for restoration work were going to gamble thousands of pounds in a bid to top up their coffers.
But charity organisers at St Peter's, in Darwen, were not going to the dogs. They were trying their luck at arranging a casino night, where punters would be able to gamble millions in "funny money".
For £6 punters could feel like a millionaire as the croupier handed out £10,000 to be gambled away.
