LIFE does not get any easier for Astley & Tyldesley.

The team, which started the weekend bottom of the Bolton Association, was savaged by Adlington pro Matthew Taylor who took 8-22 as the home side was whittled out for a meagre 72 runs.

But Adlington did not have it all their own way as they saw six wickets go before passing the target, A&T pro Scott Henderson taking 3-29.

The day was summed up by the fact that the day's top scorer Daryl Hitchen got just 19.

Golborne kept up their challenge for second place with a resounding victory over Elton.

Chris Benbow took 5-38 as Elton were skittled out for 148.

Golborne's reply saw Paul Robinson hit 30, Ian Seddon 29, John Waterworth 28, Ian Critchley 23 and Michael Pennington 21 as they passed the target in 29 overs.

Atherton's hopes of finishing second took a knock at lowly Standish.

The high-flyers set a tough target of 197-9 with Philip Wakefield hitting 65 and pro Andy Hall 41. But Standish won with five wickets remaining.

GLAZEBURY CC stormed to an eight-wicket win over Hale to set up a derby Cup Final clash with Grange on Saturday.

Three wickets each for off-spinner Mike Durrington (conceding 24 runs) and medium pacer Tom Milmine (21) left Hale all out for 111 after opening at 57-0.

That proved easy for Glazebury, who hit 115-2 with in-form all-rounder unbeaten on 52.

Mike Gibson hit a superb 101 for the Seconds at Hale. He had great support from skipper Andy Durrington on 29 in a score of 173-5.

At 74-0 Hale looked threatening, but they then struggled, reaching their target with three wickets to spare.
