REV Terry Challis, priest-in-charge at St Mary's, Leigh, now has responsibility for a second church.
He is now over St John's Church in Kirkhall Lane, just off the town centre.
His appointment comes at a time when two other local Anglican parish churches - Tyldesley and St Peter's, Westleigh - are without Incumbents.
And a third church - St John's, Mosley Common - is to lose their vicar, Rev Andy Lindop, to St Paul's at Astley Bridge.
A question-mark still hangs over the future of St Anne's, Hindsford.
The building is in a poor state of repair and there are fears it will soon have to close.
