UGB 25 Widnes Tigers 28 WITH temperatures in the 70s both teams played some top class football.
The Glassmen scored tries through Wilkinson and Blake and two conversions from Pownall but the teams were locked together at 12 points each at half-time.
After the break UG ran in tries from Birkett and Den Hall with conversions from Pownall and a drop goal from Pownall to lead 25 to 12, but then gave the game away with unforced errors and Horton was sin-binned for the last 10 minutes. UG paid the price for their mistakes.
The Low Cost UPVC man of the match was M Blake with Blake also taking the Birkett Motors player award.
