SACKED travel company staff have been offered new hope after a double-glazing company heard of their plight.

More than 30 sales staff at Hever Worldwide Properties recently lost their jobs after a decision by the Kent-based company to close their Blackpool office on Queen Street.

Although the company has stated they intend to reopen the office, many of the staff are refusing to go back because they had not been paid for eight weeks before losing their jobs and no longer trust what the company tells them.

Help is at hand, however, from Lancashire Double Glazing who are looking for in-store demonstrators to show their products to shoppers in the town.

And according to Lynda Verner, manager of the company's sales office on Henry Street, Blackpool, the former telesales workers should be ideal candidates for the jobs.

She said: "We need people who are used to dealing with members of the public and have experience of sales.

"Although we have advertised the jobs we have had difficulty getting suitable applicants. So when I heard what these workers had been through I thought it may be an ideal way to solve our problem and theirs.

"We have vacancies in Blackpool and across the region and are looking to contact these people to tell them about what we can offer."

Former Hever employee Chantelle Bennett has already gratefully accepted the chance to look at the offer after being put in touch with Lynda by The Citizen.

Chantelle of Warbreck Drive, Bispham said: "I am getting married soon and I have loads of bills to pay. My boyfriend has just lost his job so I am desperate to find work soon.

"I have applied for lots of jobs but had no luck so this could be just what I need. I am just glad to be given the chance of working again."
