CARLETON schoolgirl Rebecca Wilkinson has just returned from a holiday she'll never forget.
The 10-year-old was one of the eight finalists in the Airtours Search for a Star competition in Majorca.
And the competition was hosted by Sylvia Young, whose London theatre school helped Baby Spice, Denise Van Outen and Samantha Janus on their way to stardom.
Rebecca, from Compton Close, caught Sylvia's eye and beat more than 1,000 other hopefuls to make it to the final after singing the Britney Spears hit Sometimes in front of a 2,000 strong crowd at the Alcudia Pins resort.
But despite missing out on the first prize of making a demo tape at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, Rebecca thought the competition was great fun.
She said: "I love singing and spend most of my time practising. Sometimes my friends come round to my house and we sing together in my bedroom, so this competition was perfect for me.
"It was quite scary going on stage in front of all those people, but I still enjoyed it."
And Rebecca, a Carleton Green Primary School pupil, received a personal letter from Sylvia, who thought she had a terrific voice.
Sylvia said: "I was very impressed with all the finalists and found it very hard to choose between them.
"I thought Rebecca was a lovely little girl with lots of potential, and performing on stage in front of 2,000 people will have been a great experience for her and something she won't forget in a hurry."
