THE worst thing Leigh RMI did at Emley was to disturb the peace by opening the scoring in the 61st minute.
For an hour players and spectators had snoozed in the sweltering, September sunshine, RMI seemingly happy to take a point and stop the rot after two successive defeats.
But, when Steve Jones danced his way down the left and crossed for Tony Black to side-step his marker and blast past goalkeeper Craig Davis, the entire Yorkshire village came to life.
And in a 16-minute spell Emley wrapped up a 3-1 victory while RMI had on-loan defender Eddie Turkington sent off. "It was disappointing to see so many heads go down when they equalised," said manager Steve Waywell.
"We were still in the game. But if we continue to give goals away like we did we won't win anything.
"Players have started doing things that are foreign to them. At the start of the season we were doing the basics right, now we are just cutting our own throats."
But it's not all doom and gloom.
Waywell added: "We are still up there because there is no outstanding team in the league. If we apply ourselves we can be that outstanding team."
