CLITHEROE hit Maine Road with a second half goal-blitz to send their North Western Trains League First Division rivals packing.
The visitors never threatened the Blues' goal throughout the first half, but despite a bagful of chances, Clitheroe failed to break the deadlock.
Dave Gray was the closest to opening the scoring with a low drive, but with the scores tied at 0-0 at half time, manager Steve Parry must have thought it was not going to be his day.
It was Gray however who finally hit the back of the net just after the break, slotting the ball neatly past the visitors keeper to the relief of the home fans. It proved to be the start of a rout as Clitheroe scored two in quick succession.
Dennis Hill finished off a great move to double the home side's advantage before Gray added a third on the hour.
Maine Road's keeper prevented a truly embarrassing scoreline for his side
Just minutes later Gary Rishton finished of the scoring, knocking in a well worked through ball after good work from Gray once again.
