A SCHOOL had to turn away its 210 pupils yesterday after burglars vandalised a classroom in a mindless weekend wrecking spree.
Almost every window was smashed at St Stephen's Infant School, Little Harwood, when the caretaker arrived to open up the school.
The culprits had also kicked in classroom doors and stolen a small amount of money in the attack.
Headteacher Anne Wilson, who has only been in charge at the school for a week, spent the whole of yesterday organising the clean up and repairs. A spokesman for Blackburn with Darwen Council said: "This is the sort of thing we have to put up with every year, although this incident was a bad attack. We have to put money aside for this sort of thing which is such a waste as the money could be used to fund other things."
The school was due to reopen this morning.
