BURNLEY Reserves fielded a strong side but still went down at Molineux last night.
And, while the scoreline flattered the home side a little, Burnley were indebted to goalkeeper Craig Mawson for saving a second-half penalty.
Wolves opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Mark Jones was on hand to sidefoot Paul Simpson's cross past Mawson.
Matt Heywood was just wide of a post for the Clarets before they drew level on 21 minutes.
A pin-point Paul Weller free kick found Alan Lee unmarked on the penalty spot and the young striker fired high into the net.
Unfortunately, it took the home side only two minutes to regain the lead. A neat one-two caught the Clarets defence napping for Steve Corica to 'dink' the ball over the advancing Mawson. Burnley finished the half the better of the two sides with Weller, Lee and John Mullin all going close but they had Mawson to thank seven minutes after the break when Chris Brass handled on the line and the keeper saved the penalty from Jones.
Anthony Shandran and Alex Kevan were close with headers before a fluke third settled the game on 77 minutes, Brass's clearance striking Taylor and rebounding into the net.
BURNLEY: Mawson, Scott, Cowan (sub Devenney), Heywood, Brass, Kevan, Weller, Mullin (sub Kelly), Jepson (sub Shandran), Robertson, Lee.
