THE season got off to an exciting start with a total of 234 goals being scored in the 38 matches.

In the Under-Nines section, Feniscowles Juniors and St Joseph's were the only teams to secure home victories, helped by a hat trick by Tom Walsh.

In the Under-10s, Blackburn Boys Reserves produced the comeback of the day after trailing 4-1 to Huncoat United Stars. A Scott Whisby hat-trick brought the game level, and both teams deservedly went away with a point.

Both Akzo Juniors' teams hit double figures, while Barrowford and St Joesph's produced two excellent games at Wilson Playing Fields.

All Star Boys - in their first-ever league game - were no match for a very strong Rossendale team. There were also victories for Newchurch, both Feniscowles teams, Clitheroe and Rishton United.

Barrowford Celtic made an impressive start in the Under-11s section with a victory over Pendle Forest, while both Great Harwood teams were involved in 6-3 scorelines - Town with a victory over St Joseph's and Rovers going down to Clitheroe Wolves. Wilpshire Wanderers overcame Newchurch by the odd-goal-in-seven at Pleckgate.

All Star Boys and Oswaldtwistle Villa were involved in an exciting high-scoring encounter in the Under-12s section, with the visitors winning 5-4. There were also wins for St Joseph's and Rishton United.

In the Under-13s section, last year's Under-12s champions Oswaldtwistle United, got off to a winning start, with their first goal coming within the opening 20 seconds of the match with Huncoat. New boys Whitworth Wanderers were unlucky to go down to the odd-goal-in-three away to North Valley, while St Joseph's and Knuzden Youth both registered convincing wins.
