LAST Saturday was the end of the youth league season with two cup finals taking place in Clitheroe.
The U18s Brian Morris Cup Final with Clitheroe playing neighbours Ribblesdale Wanderers in a 90 overs match at Chatburn Road in the afternoon, and the U16s Birchall Cup Final played in the morning at Church Meadows between Ribblesdale Wanderers and Edenfield.
The two Ribblesdale sides proved too much for their opposition and as a result Ribblesdale picked up bother trophies to add to the U18s league championship cup.
Andrew Ainsworth of Ribblesdale was awarded the man of the match medal in the Brian Morris cup game for his his 5-23 bowling performance and Matthew Stafford also of Ribblesdale was named man of the match in the Birchall Cup for his 52 not out and 4-11.
At U11s level in the Optical Direct League, Read, 271, beat Barnoldswick 259 to win the Optical Direct Arthur Shaw Challenge Shield on its first presentation.
In the LCB U11s Cup, Barnoldswick were beaten at Hightown in the final, losing two wickets in the last over so reducing by 16 runs what would have been a winning total.
