CLITHEROE athlete Jennifer Adams has won the over 45 age group in the British veteran marathon championship at Wolverhampton.
Jennifer returned 3:25:27 for the 26 miles 385 yards to complete a notable double for the area, with Evan Cook having won the men's race.
It has been a busy couple of weeks for the Red Rose road runner during which time she has also picked up two series wins. Her club competes in an inter club series against Preston Harriers, Chorley AC, North Fylde and Wesham. Each club organises a race and a presentation follows the final fixture, which was last Thursday. Jennifer won her age group in every race to win an emphatic victory in the L45 class.
The following day, at the presentation evening at Barrowford Civic Hall, Jennifer received her trophy for winning the Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix. In this series she was first lady, as well as winning her age group. Points were awarded in all 10 races, and to miss one would have cost her the title.
On the day of the Cliviger six-mile, she had already committed to running the Liverpool half marathon for her club, but managed to run both races to preserve her series lead.
Team-mate Richard Packer (M65) also won his age group in a series otherwise dominated by Clayton Harriers.
