WORSTHORNE vicar Rev Lawrence Laycock has been officially inducted as vicar for the new United Benefice of St John the Divine Cliviger and St John the Evangelist Worsthorne .
A service was held at St John the Evangelist, Worsthorne, to mark the occasion, with the Bishop of Burnley, the Right Rev Martyn Jarrett, as preacher.
Members of both congregations gathered to see the Archdeacon of Blackburn, the Ven Dr John Marsh, perform the induction part of the ceremony.
Rev Laycock has unofficially led both churches for more than two years and said there would be no extra workload from this development.
He also added that the churches would remain two separate churches.
Choirs from both churches joined together in leading the singing.
