A £2.2 MILLION package of support for East Lancashire businesses was being launched today.
The Enterprise in East Lancashire initiative, backed by the county council, is aimed at helping develop small businesses.
The package, which is managed by economic development firm, Enterprise plc, was being unveiled at the East Lancashire Technology Management Centre in Accrington.
"This package represents a major commitment to jobs and industry in East Lancashire," said County Councillor Frank McKenna.
"Small businesses are the powerhouse of the local economy and offer the greatest potential to create new jobs.
"We want to work with business and industry to build world class companies that are competitive in both UK and international markets. East Lancashire has a proud reputation for the quality of its manufacturing industry.
"We want to develop the expertise that already exists and lay the foundations for a strong local economy into the new millennium." The new package will help firms in areas such as accessing additional funds for expansion and developing marketing campaigns.
It was also provide help for firms to utilise technology for uses including prototype development and to improve supply chains.
A roadshow will be held at the East Lancashire Technology Management Centre on October 7 to outline to businesses what help is available.
The Enterprise in East Lancashire package is available to firms in Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle, Rossendale and Ribble Valley.
