WORK on the £1 million Nelson town centre improvement scheme is progressing to timetable.
Contractors are putting the finishing touches to new parking and traffic calming measures in Market Square and a canopy along the line of shops is expected to go up either the end of this month or early October.
A low wall and railings will go around the library car park to tie it in with the surrounding area.
Workmen will then switch their attention to re-laying flags under the canopy in Market Street and carry out refurbishment works.
The work is expected to last a further two months.
