RAIN washed out the second half of the final round of the 1999 track league at the open air stadium at Kirkby, but the Blackburn and District CTC racing section were already home and dry in the season long-team competition scoring a brilliant win over arch rivals Liverpool Mercury.
Darwen's Shaun Pearson gained some late points by winning the Devil Take the Hindmost but could not stop Lee Matthews of the Mercury winning the individual title. Shaun was nevertheless an excellent second in the league table and also second overall in the weekly Deeside Decider competition.
The official printed result is still outstanding but it is hoped that 15-year-old May Stott of Clayton-le-Moors is also winner of her own category.
