IN THE current warm weather, winter still seems a distance away, but the track and field season is all but over and preparations are underway for this winter's cross country season.
Hyndburn AC are holding an open meeting on Sunday October 10 at Wilson Playing Fields, Clayton-le-Moors. All age groups from eight to seniors are welcome, with races for the youngest competitors starting at 11.45am and progressing in age group order. The final race, for senior men, is at 3.10pm. The local league dates have also been announced - Red Rose League: (Saturdays) Oct 9 Bury; Oct 23 Saddleworth or Rochdale; Nov 20 Bolton; Dec 4 Rossendale. Mid Lancs League: (Saturdays) Oct 23 Barrow; Nov 6 Lancaster; Dec 4 Preston; Jan 15 Leyland; Feb 5 Blackburn (prov).
