BAMBER Bridge's topsy-turvy run of form continued during midweek with a dramatic 4-3 victory over UniBond new boys Barrow in the qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Manager Tony Greenwood will now be hoping to repeat that success on Saturday when they travel to Trafford for the second qualifying game.
The midweek result provided some light relief for Greenwood, who is still at a loss as to why his team aren't putting out consistent results.
After initially going a goal behind, Whittaker levelled things after 20 minutes as Brig dominated. They should have taken the lead before half-time, but instead Barrow hit on the break to leave Brig trailing 2-1 at half-time.
In the second half, Brig emerged from a period of Barrow pressure to equalise, Bryson heading home from close range after picking up a corner kick.
Greenwood and Reynolds both scored to take the score to 4-2, before Barrow pulled one back 11 minutes from time to keep the fans on the edge of the terraces right until the final whistle. However, in the league at the weekend, Brig lost 2-1 to new boys Hucknall Town at the weekend in the League, a result which has left Greenwood back in the hunt for new players.
Two UniBond Premier League players are talking to Greenwood at the moment, but they have not been named.
Looking at the team however, the defence has been pretty strong, and Greenwood has publicly admitted in the past his desire to recruit more strikers.
Greenwood said: "The defence have done very well up until this weekend, something which can't be said about other areas so I do need new players.
"Hopefully, I will be able to get a couple."
He also highlighted underachieving on the part of several people as a reason for his team's current league position which, although midtable, is far from what was expected at the start of the season.
He added: "I have to make sure this stops."
