IS someone at the town hall suffering from memory loss, or perhaps uncomfortable after-thoughts?

What prompts the question is a council notice seeking possible sites for re-cycling facilities in the Billinge area. These, they specify, need to be in a public position, visible from the road, with suitable hard standing and capable of accommodating heavy goods vehicles to empty the containers.

Recycling plans are commendable, of coure. But, hang on, didn't the council have an ideal central base at the old council offices site along Main Street until, in their wisdom, they recently shut down this public rubbish-skip site?

Mind you, if the tendency to flatten historic buildings, such as the Birchley schoolhouse, continues, there should be plenty of local spaces on which to set up recycling schemes.
