AN open letter to the Lancaster City Councillors.
As a concerned grandparent, I read the front page of the Citizen Sept 2 with some concern.
May I suggest that the council fight for child safety in Happy Mount Park? From the way things are going now, the only children's facilities in the park will be the paddling pool, which so far has been closed for 3 years and is supposed to re-open next year (where have we heard that before?) and the children's play area is very small.
Perhaps the intention is to turn the park into a place for the old folk and ignore the younger folk. This isn't right. The trampoline, roundabout and crazy golf, to name but a few, are to go at the end of this season, and a bandstand erected in place of these.
This will be used for approx 12 Sundays of the year, if we're lucky... what a waste of money.
Children, both local residents and visitors are our future, what's being done for them at this end of Morecambe?
I am not the only concerned resident I know, visitors I have spoken to in the park are of the same opinion.

Bare Lane,
