INFORMATION about Council decisions are now available at the touch of a button.
Minutes of full council and committee meetings are now on the world wide web at www.wiganmbc.gov.uk/pub/council/minutes.
Wigan Council leader, Cllr Peter Smith, said: "Local democracy week is an important showcase for the many different ways that councils are at the forefront of involving residents in their activities and decisions.
"The government wants councils to engage much more with their citizens through the medium of the internet and other electronic technology.
"By putting council minutes on the web in this way we are taking a small but important step towards that goal.
"I wouldn't pretend for an instant that this will be the most exciting document we ever place on the web but it will certainly be one of the most significant.
"The minutes are an important record of what decisions have been taken."
