Rockin' On Heaven's Door, at Burnley Mechanics
ROCKIN' on Heaven's Door is another tribute show to the four late, great rock and rollers, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran and Roy Orbison.
Perhaps not as polished or professional as the recent Four Steps To Heaven but the show at Burnley Mechanics was nevertheless a great one which captured the magical atmosphere of the 50s and 60s.
The late stars' greatest hits were performed to perfection by Johnny Curtiss (Roy Orbison), Marc Robinson (Buddy Holly) and Tony Meyers (an energetic and enthusiastic Eddie Cochran). But star of the show (for me!) had to be Elvis, portrayed by the gorgeous Richard Atkins. Listening, with closed eyes, to his rendition of "Always On My Mind," you could almost believe you were hearing the King himself.
Excellent musical backing was provided by the "Juke Box Jive" rock and roll band.
Presently in the middle of a whistle-stop tour of the country, the show will play the Guild Hall in Preston at the end of October.
