ACTRESS Pauline Nevell is making a welcome return to St Joseph's Players.

The former student at Leigh Girls Grammar School, who now lives in Warrington, appears only occasionally on the Leigh stage.

But she was delighted to take up the challenge of playing the fastidious Florence in Neil Simon's upbeat comedy "The Odd Couple".

"It's great fun," said Pauline. "And it's made even better to be playing opposite Katherine Roberts, who is the cluttered half of the partnership.

"We make a great team!"

The play runs for four evenings from next Tuesday with tickets on sale at Boardman's in Bradshawgate, Leigh.

Coming up next month at St Joseph's is the very different "Accrington Pals", a taut tale of World War One directed by Linda Sargent.

Meanwhile, St Joseph's Players are reviving the beat boom. They are hosting a Sixties Night on October 30 featuring popular Northern band The Peakles.

Tickets (£6) are now on sale. Call 01942-601878 for details.
