FURTHER to Councillor Boden's letter "Don't blame us blame them!" (Bury Times, September 10). Is the Council not responsible for planning permission, environmental issues and the general upkeep of our community? I was under the impression we paid for such services. Obviously Bury Council is better at passing the buck. Maybe they could accept responsibility for the five months it has taken for any action to be taken, and for the lack of information given to local residents and users of the Elms.
Had this happened in the centre of Bury would it have taken five months for action to be taken? I seriously doubt it.
I intend to write to North West Properties and Bury Council to demand this situation be rectified immediately. If not, North West Properties may find any attempts to get planning permission for anything else strongly opposed, and the council could find votes in short supply come the next election!
I hope other residents and users of the area will do the same.
SINEAD GRACEY,
Pilkington Park constituent
