A CLAYTON Brook man was killed when his car was in collision with a bus in Croston Road on Tuesday (September 14).
Ian Michael Holden, 32, from Acresfield, smashed almost head-on into the front of the bus travelling to Leyland.
Firefighters worked with an emergency doctor and paramedics as they spent an hour cutting Mr Holden from the wreckage of his car. He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he died of multiple injuries.
The crash occurred at 8.37am when the 115 special-service bus to Runshaw College had pulled out to overtake two cars in Croston Road.
Mr Holden did the same coming in the opposite direction, travelling to Lostock Hall, when he pulled out to overtake a van, around ten metres away from where the bus pulled out.
Bus driver Vincent Teale, 31, from Church Lane in Farington Moss, was treated for shock at the scene, along with passenger Claire Laverick, 16, from Cage Lane, Whitestake.
Locals have been called for traffic calming measures on that stretch of road several times. Last weekend, an 11-year-old girl was knocked off her bike in the same area.
