MUSICIANS from Burnley have been blowing their own trumpets after their youth band won nine trophies for its best performance in its 53 year history.
The Northern Thunder Drum and Bugle Corps was so successful in contests in Batley and Cleckheaton, Yorkshire, it has now been placed fourth in the British Youth Band Association Concert Class League and have already qualified for the third year running for the finals at the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham, on October 24.
The corps is looking forward to next year and promotion to the Championship Class and it will shortly be recruiting seniors and youngsters aged eight to 11 for a new Cadet corps.
