GOLFER John Cheetham is teeing up for a Stateside competition.
The Tyldesley youngster (pictured), who plays at Deane Golf Club, won the Bolton Junior Open.
And he is now waiting to see if he has qualified for the Daily Telegraph/Centre Parcs Junior Golf Championship.
John, 15, of Beckside, shot a level-par 70 to win the Bolton Open, which is used as a qualifier for the national event.
He beat more than 100 hopefuls and produced a magnificent round after dropping a shot at the opening hole.
Later this month he will discover if he has won a place in the final, which is staged at the Cloister & Sea Island Club in Georgia, USA.
MICHELLE NAYLOR has won the Lancashire Girls Golf Association September Medal.
The 15-year-old Lowton High student hit a nett 65 off a 18 handicap at the competition in Heysham.
Already, after only two years at the sport encouraged by dad Peter and brother Gary, she has played in three county matches.
Michelle is a member at Leigh GC.
