FELL runner James Logue is aiming to be top of the world.
And the Westleigh High teacher is cycling to school from his Horwich home - and exercising in a sauna - in a bid to make his dream come true.
The school's new head of geography has been selected to run in this weekend's world fell running championships in Malaysia.
And for James, 28, who is representing Northern Ireland, this is the latest highlight in a promising endurance running career.
He left Leigh yesterday to prepare for the course, which covers seven miles through tropical rainforest, ascending and descending 3,000 feet.
He said: "I am really looking forward to this challenge, although the humidity puts extra demand on an already difficult course. I am very excited."
Acting head teacher John Pout said: "We wish James every success. He certainly puts in enough training to be one of the best in the world.
"As well as being an excellent teacher, his running is an inspiration to the students at the school.
"And he is so skinny it's sickening!"
