Yeovil 2 Morecambe 0"I'M still pleased with our performances," said manager Jim Harvey after this match, "results should follow if we continue to play like this, hopefully starting against Kidderminster on Saturday."

But, as Harvey admitted, any more defensive errors like the two that led to the Yeovil goals and Morecambe get nowhere fast.

If not for those mistakes Morecambe, who have been flying recently, would have come home with at least a point.

As Harvey said: "Everything was going according to plan and we didn't really miss Justin Jackson. Then, just when we were really getting somewhere, we give two goals away. But, as the cliche goes, 'that's football.'"

Jackson was ruled out of the game after being attacked during a night out in Lancaster the week before. His eye was badly swollen. That left Phil Eastwood alone up front.

Mark Wright and Kenny Takano were also missing but nothing seemed to bother the chosen first 11 who had several chances to score.

A draw looked on the cards until disaster struck after 63 minutes. Stewart Drummond and keeper Andy Banks dismally failed to communicate defending a crossed free kick and the Yeovil striker was almost laughing when he knocked the ball into an empty net.

The second goal was equally comical. Dave McKearney passed back to Banks who was caught unawares. The keeper sliced his clearance to the same Yeovil striker, Warren Patemore, who, once again, accepted the gift.

Team: Banks, Fensome, Hardiker, McKearney, Farrell, Burns, Lyons (Thompson 58), Drummond, Keeling (Hardy 65), Eastwood, Gardner.
