Ulverston 29 Pilkington Recs 20 NOT for the first time in Cumbria Recs produced plenty of effort but came away without the league points.

The visitors were caught napping right from the start and found themselves 12-nil behind after conceding carbon copy tries, as the home hooker plunged in for two tries.

But Recs began to get their attacking game together and quick passing saw Andy Traverse put supporting full-back Chris Hillam in for a try at the corner. Craig Burrows kicked an excellent conversion from the touchline.

Good hands created space for Andy Traverse to burst through to score in the corner. Five minutes later a penalty goal from Burrows reduced the deficit

With Recs now on a roll, Traverse powered through for a second score. Right on half-time a clever switch by scrum-half Johnny Smith put the supporting Graham Cranney over.

With time running out, the big Ulverston prop forward powered through six defenders to score and level matters.

With Recs looking to snatch victory, 10 minutes from time the home loose forward intercepted and ran 75 metres to score the match winning try.

The Specialist Fireplace Supplies man of the match award went to top tackler John Rees.
