RURAL bus routes have been given a much needed boost with an injection of Government cash.
A number of new bus services have been established around Lancashire and existing services have been improved to raise standards of public transport links.
A group of "parish contacts" has also been set up to work with the county council to distribute information, timetables and help monitor the success of the new service.
Morecambe and Lunesdale MP Geraldine Smith has been guided through the new services by County Cllr Richard Toon.
He said: "While the routes represent a great improvement, the county council will continue to monitor the services through our parish contacts. In this way, people in rural communities are directly involved in the development and success of their services.
