AN operation to deal with thefts in the Clock Face and Sutton Manor areas has been hailed a success.
Operation Barnyard was set up by the police Community Action Team (CAT) between Monday and Friday, September 6 to 10.
It resulted in seven arrests, three for theft of motor vehicles, one for handling stolen goods and three for burglary.
During the operation there were no reported burglaries in the area.
A police spokesman said: "Officers were encouraged by the results and hope that the good work will continue. It is hoped to set up similar operations in other areas to combat aspects of anti-social behaviour."
Anyone with information regarding problems in the community, such as disorder, theft or burglary, can contact Sergeant John Roberts at Newton-le-Willows police station on 0151 777 6166.
