POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an armed robbery at a post office in Knowsley Road, Newtown. At about 12.50pm on Tuesday, September 14, a man walked into the post office and threatened an employee with what was believed to be a handgun before escaping with a substantial amount of money.
The robber ran off in the direction of Mulberry Avenue and got into the front passnger seat of a waiting car described as a grey, two-door saloon, with dark grey or black round the bottom. The car then drove off towards Ellison Drive.
The offender is described as white, late 20s or early 30s, 5ft 8in tall to 5ft 10in tall, slim build and unshaven. He was wearing a blue peaked baseball cap, sunglasses, a blue jacket and blue trousers.
