A PRIZE-WINNING show dog has turned up a month after he was stolen - but his owner fears for a second pet which is still missing.
Karen Tittle is delighted at the return of Stafford Bull Terrier Sparky who was taken from her Prestwich home in a dawn raid. However, she is worried that his companion, Layla - stolen at the same time - may be used to breed.
Mrs Tittle, who has been showing dogs for 40 years, offered a reward for the return of the pair amid concerns that they may be used in the bloodthirsty and illegal sport of dog fighting. Sparky turned up last week near Simister. Mrs Tittle said: "I got a phone call from the dog warden to say he had been spotted at Droughts Lane. He was very shy and timid and he wouldn't come to me at first .
"He seems to be OK now and he is settling in at home but he is fretting for Layla."
"I really hope I can get her back and finding Sparky has really built up my confidence."
Mrs Tittle was looking forward to getting back on the show circuit after a break following the death of her husband, Alf, last September.
Anyone with information about Layla who is ginger with white markings on her paws, can contact Mr Tittle on 766 3799 or 0780 380 3706.
